Privacy Policy
Last updated:
You trust us with a name, an address and sometimes a kid’s jersey number. We take that seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Jersey Lane collects when you visit jerseylane.shop or order from us, why we need it, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. Jersey Lane, 3220 Common Way, Madera, CA 93637, US is responsible for the information described here. Any privacy question goes to support@jerseylane.shop.
Your data, straight up
- We collect what we need to take your order, print the name and number you typed, ship it and help you afterwards.
- We do not sell your personal information. Not to anyone, not for any price.
- Payments are handled by the payment provider you pick at checkout. We never see your full card number.
- Photos you email us, for example of a damaged item, are deleted 30 days after delivery of the order.
- Cookies keep the cart and checkout working. You control the rest in your browser.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing us.
What we collect, and when
Most of what we hold comes from you, at the moment you need something from us. Here is the full list, grouped by when it happens.
When you check out
To place an order, the checkout asks for your name, email address, billing address and shipping address, plus a phone number if the form asks for one. We also record what you ordered: the product, the size, the colourway, the quantity and the order total. If you create an account on the My Account page, we store your login email and a securely hashed password, together with your order history and saved addresses.
When you personalise a jersey
Our custom products have fields on the product page: Name on back, Number, and Lettering style, and on some items an option such as a number on the shorts leg. Whatever you type into those fields becomes part of your order. That text is personal information when it is a real person’s name. It may be your own name, a teammate’s, or your child’s. We use it for one thing only: printing it on the item you ordered, exactly as you typed it.
When you email us
Support runs by email. When you write to us, we keep your email address, your message and anything you attach, so we can follow the conversation and fix the issue. If you send photos, for example of a seam that came loose or a parcel that arrived crushed, those photos are deleted 30 days after delivery of the order they relate to.
When you browse
Like almost every website, ours receives basic technical information from your browser: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you open, the page that sent you here and the time of your visit. This comes from server logs and from cookies, which are explained further down.
From the payment provider
The payment provider that handles your payment tells us whether it went through. It may also share limited details such as the payment type or the last digits of a card. We never receive your full card number or security code.
| Information | Where it comes from | What we use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, billing and shipping address | Checkout form | Fulfilling and shipping your order, order emails, returns and refunds |
| Name on back, number, lettering choice | Product page fields | Printing your item exactly as typed |
| Order details (items, sizes, colourways, totals) | Your cart | Fulfilment, exchanges, accounting records |
| Payment result and limited payment details | Payment provider | Confirming payment, issuing refunds to the original payment method |
| Emails and attachments | You, by email | Answering questions and resolving problems |
| Photos you email us | You, by email | Assessing a problem with an order; deleted 30 days after delivery |
| IP address, device, pages viewed | Your browser, cookies, server logs | Keeping the site working and secure |
Why we use it
We do not collect data for its own sake. Every piece has a job.
- To fill your order. We need your address to ship, your email to send order updates, and the personalisation text to print the right name and number.
- To keep you posted. We email your order confirmation and, when your order ships, the shipping details we have.
- To sort out problems. Returns, exchanges, refunds, store credit and size questions all need your order history.
- To keep the store safe. We use technical data to spot fraud, block abuse and keep checkout running.
- To meet legal duties. Some order records have to be kept for accounting and tax purposes.
- To improve the store. We look at what is ordered and returned, for example how often a size gets exchanged, so we can make product pages and the Size Guide clearer.
If we ever send marketing emails, we do it only where you agreed or the law allows it, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing never affects order emails you still need, such as a refund confirmation.
If you are in a region that requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on these: performing our contract with you (orders, delivery and support), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving the store), your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies, where used) and legal obligations (accounting and tax records).
Names, numbers and the kids on your roster
A lot of our orders are placed by parents and volunteer coaches for youth players. That means you may be typing a child’s first name or surname into the Name on back field. Here is how we treat that.
We only print it
The name and number are used to produce that one item. We do not build profiles from them, we do not publish them, and we do not use them in marketing. A youth coach ordering ten Custom Name & Number Reversible Jerseys, one per player, gives us ten names. Those names stay attached to that order and nothing else.
Our store is for adults to buy from
The store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age. A child’s name on a jersey arrives through an adult who placed the order. If you believe a child has given us information directly, for example by emailing us, tell us and we will delete it.
Think before you type
Many teams use first names or nicknames on the back. If you would rather not share a full surname, a first name or just a number works fine. The Name on back field is optional on most products. The Number is required on custom items.
Who sees your information
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the store, and only the part they need to do their job.
- Payment provider: the provider you choose at checkout processes the payment under its own privacy terms.
- Production and shipping partners: the people who print and ship your order receive the item details, the personalisation text and the shipping address.
- Hosting and email providers: our website and our support inbox run on third-party services that store data for us.
Gift orders work the same way. Picture a grandparent in Canada sending a Custom Youth Name & Number Jersey to a grandchild in Australia. The billing address stays with the payment and our records. The shipping address and recipient name go to the people who print and deliver the parcel. Nothing else about the buyer travels with the package.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of customers, or if the business is reorganised or sold, in which case this policy continues to protect your information.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Cookies, in plain terms
A cookie is a small file your browser stores for a website. Ours do a short list of jobs.
Essential cookies
These remember what is in your Cart, keep you signed in to your account and carry you through checkout. The store does not work without them.
Preference and measurement cookies
Some cookies remember small preferences or help us understand, in general terms, how the site is used. Where the law requires your consent for these, we ask first.
Your controls
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working, so you would not be able to order. Blocking the others has no effect on buying from us.
How long we keep it
We keep information only for as long as it serves a purpose.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Photos you email us about an order | Deleted 30 days after delivery of that order |
| Order records, including personalisation text | As long as accounting and tax law requires |
| Support emails | As long as useful to resolve your request and handle follow-up questions |
| Account details | Until you ask us to close the account, subject to the order records above |
| Store credit balance | Store credit never expires, so we keep the balance record until it is used or you ask us to close it |
| Marketing preferences | Until you unsubscribe |
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
The whole site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Payment details go straight to the payment provider and are never stored on our servers. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to fill orders and answer support emails. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share. If a breach affects your information and the law requires notice, we will tell you.
We will never ask you for a password or full card number by email. Do not send payment details in a support message. If you get an email that claims to be from us and asks for them, forward it to support@jerseylane.shop and do not reply to it.
Your rights and how to use them
Depending on where you live, including California, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, privacy law may give you some or all of these rights:
- See the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong, such as a misspelled shipping address in your account.
- Delete information we no longer need, except records we must keep by law.
- Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Object to or limit certain uses, and withdraw consent you gave earlier.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still ask us to confirm.
Making a request
- Email support@jerseylane.shop from the address linked to your order or account.
- Tell us what you want: a copy, a correction or deletion.
- We may ask you to confirm details from a recent order so we know the request is really yours.
- We reply within 24 hours on business days and complete the request within the time the law allows.
You will never be treated differently, charged more or refused service for using these rights. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the privacy regulator where you live.
Visitors from outside the United States
We sell to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and our orders ship from the USA. If you order from outside the United States, your information is processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate. We use the safeguards the law requires when information crosses borders.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will put a notice on the site or email customers with an active order.
