Fair play matters on the court and off it. Jersey Lane respects the work of photographers, designers and writers, and we expect everyone who uses jerseylane.shop to do the same. This page explains how to tell us if you believe something on our site copies your copyrighted work, what information we need, how we respond, and how a person whose content was removed can respond. It follows the notice-and-takedown process of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512. Copyright notices go to support@jerseylane.shop.

Copyright notices at a glance

  • Email your notice to support@jerseylane.shop with the subject line “Copyright notice”.
  • Include all six required elements listed below. Incomplete notices slow everything down.
  • We review complete notices and remove or disable access to material that infringes.
  • If your content was removed and you think it was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice.
  • Trademark questions, including names and logos on jerseys, are covered by our Intellectual Property Policy.

What this page covers

Jersey Lane is a single store. We do not host other sellers, marketplaces or user storefronts. That keeps the scope of this page narrow and clear.

Material on our site

  • Product photos and digital previews of our jerseys, shorts, shooting shirts and team gear.
  • All-over print artwork, such as gradient fade and pinstripe patterns.
  • Product descriptions, size guidance, help articles and policy pages.
  • Reviews or other content customers submit for display on the site, if any is published.

What it does not cover

Personalisation text, such as a Name on back or a Number, is printed on the customer’s own item and is not published on our site. Concerns about names, team names, logos or trademarks on products belong under the Intellectual Property Policy, because they are usually trademark or publicity matters rather than copyright.

Copyright protects original creative works such as photos, artwork and writing. It does not protect a plain number, a common first name, a generic colour combination like Black/White, or a basic stripe. If your concern is about one of those, the IP policy is the better place to start.

How to send a copyright notice

Under the DMCA, a notice must be in writing and must include each of the following. Please number your points so we can match them up.

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of a person authorised to act for them. A typed full name at the end of the email counts as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed. If several works are involved, a representative list is acceptable.
  3. Identification of the material on our site that you believe infringes, with the exact URL of each page and, where possible, a description of which image or passage you mean.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address, so we can reach you.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

Where to send it

Email the notice to support@jerseylane.shop with the subject line “Copyright notice”. You may also send it by post to Jersey Lane, 3220 Common Way, Madera, CA 93637, US. Email is faster, because our support runs by email.

Helpful extras

Not required, but useful: a link to where your original work was first published, the date you created it, and a screenshot of our page with the material marked. The clearer the match, the faster we can act.

Common reasons a notice stalls

  • A link to our home page instead of the exact product or page URL.
  • No statement made under penalty of perjury.
  • Sent on behalf of a client without saying who the client is or that you are authorised to act for them.
  • Attachments only, with no description in the email itself of which image or text is meant.
  • A complaint about a team name or logo, which is a trademark matter and belongs under the IP policy.

Fixing any of these is quick. Reply in the same email thread with the missing piece and we pick it up from there.

What we do after your notice arrives

  1. We acknowledge it. We reply within 24 hours on business days to confirm we have it.
  2. We check it is complete. If an element is missing, we tell you which one and wait for it.
  3. We review the material. We compare your work with the content you identified.
  4. We act. If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the material and confirm this to you by email.
  5. We tell the uploader. If a customer submitted the material, we let them know it was removed and that they can send a counter-notice.

If we decide the material does not infringe, or that we need more information, we explain why by email. We keep a record of each notice and what we did about it.

Our own content

Most of what appears on the site is our own photography, preview images and writing. If a notice concerns material we produced, we still take it seriously. We review where it came from, remove it while we check if that is the fair thing to do, and replace it if needed.

Counter-notice: if your content was removed

If content you submitted was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send us a counter-notice. It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, postal address and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Jersey Lane may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

Send it to support@jerseylane.shop with the subject line “Counter-notice”.

What happens next

We forward a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us, within the period the DMCA sets, that they have filed a court action to restrain the activity, we may restore the material. If they do start a court action, the material stays down while it is resolved.

How notices play out: three examples

These examples show the kind of situations this process is built for. They are illustrations, not real cases.

A photographer’s court shot

A photographer finds one of their outdoor court photos used as a background on one of our collection pages. They email a notice with a link to the original upload, our page URL and all six elements. We confirm receipt, compare the two images and, if they match, take the image down and tell the photographer it is gone.

An artist’s pattern

An illustrator believes an all-over print on one of our jerseys copies a detailed original artwork they made. A plain gradient from one colour to another is not something copyright usually protects, but a detailed illustration can be. We look at both side by side, ask for the creation date if it is missing, and pull the product page if the artwork was copied.

A review photo

If we publish customer reviews with photos, and one of them turns out to be someone else’s picture, the owner can send a notice. We remove the photo, tell the customer who posted it, and explain that they can send a counter-notice if they believe the photo was theirs to share.

Material outside our site

We can only act on content that we control on jerseylane.shop. If our product photos or descriptions appear on another website, that site’s owner or host handles removal. Likewise, we cannot remove material from social networks, search results or marketplaces we do not run.

When someone copies us

Our own photos and writing are protected too. If you spot Jersey Lane product images or text on a site that is not ours, a quick email to support@jerseylane.shop with the link helps us follow it up. You can read more about how our content may be used in the Intellectual Property Policy.

Search results and cached copies

After we remove material, older copies may still show for a while in search engines or in browser caches. Those copies are refreshed by the search engine or your browser on their own schedule. We cannot speed that up, but we will confirm when the content is gone from our site.

False claims have consequences

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees. Think it through before sending.

  • Check that the material is really yours, and not a similar but independent work.
  • Consider whether the use might be permitted, for example a short quotation with credit.
  • If you are unsure, get legal advice first.

We may disregard notices that are clearly abusive, such as repeated notices about a plain numeral or a common colour combination.

Repeat infringers

We remove content from, and may close the accounts of, people who repeatedly submit material that infringes someone else’s copyright. Closing an account does not cancel any refund, return or store credit the customer is already owed under our Refund Policy.

Your privacy when you send a notice

A notice includes personal details. We use them only to handle the notice. If we forward your notice to the person who submitted the material, we may share the notice itself, as the law allows, but we try to withhold your private contact details where the law does not require us to pass them on. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.

Changes to this page

We may update this page if the law or our process changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the current version. Notices are handled under the version in force when we receive them.
